UNESCO Club Wien – Vienna - Vienne

Youth representative: With the view to establish a network of youth consultants, the UCV trains a candidate over a 12 month period in the development and implementation of selected project(s) tailored to the studies/areas of interest of the trainee. To date, training has been given in the areas of peace education; migrants & refugees; environment and nature-based solutions; rapprochement of cultures; women in science; inter-cultural communication. UCV has also provided upon request from schools, 1-2 weeks work experience for students. The UNESCO Club Vienna lends support to Model UN conferences in close collaboration with youth representatives.

Main field of activities: Vienna is one of the most important headquarters of International Organizations (IO) in the world, with a focus on the promotion of peace, security, sustainable development, the fight against organized crime, drug abuse, corruption and terrorism. Further emphasis is given to disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. Vienna is seat of the United Nations (UN) beside New York, Geneva and, later, Nairobi. International institutions include some 40 IOs, diplomatic representations, NGOs and Quasi-NGOs. The UNESCO Club Vienna (UCV) founded in 2007 in consultation with the UNESCO National Commission of Austria, and is a member of EFUCA and WFUCA. 

UCV promotes the ideals and principles of UNESCO by connecting people and cultures through various events, activities and platforms including UCV Global Citizen Platform, UCV eARTh Academy, UCV FotoArt IN FOCUS.

• Science: robotics & AI, LINKS, bio-ethics & human rights 

• Culture: ResiliArt Movement, music, the multimedia & multilingual aspects of language and the arts 

• Youth and marginalized groups: mental health &emotional wellbeing, bullying & social media
