The opening of the "Bucharest, rediscovered - Metamorphosis 6" exhibition will take place on Tuesday, October 14th 2014, at 6 p.m. at the Metropolis Center (89-97 Grigore Alexandrescu Street). The exhibition features photos of and about Bucharest, taken by the famous artists George Dumitriu and shall be open to the public from 10th to 30th of October 2014.
The current exhibition organized by Club Alumnus for UNESCO, as a first manifestation on the occasion of its 15th anniversary, concerns the same goals, the objectives chosen by renowned photographer George Dumitriu, are those that the youngsters of Bucharest attend assiduously, such as Cărtureşti Bookstore or Sadoveanu Library, and others that are not well known but might arouse interest, especially that are newly and beautifully restored. "Bucharest rediscovered" means, among other things, the rediscovery by each generation of the capital's places full of history and charm, says Mrs. Daniela Popescu, the president of the organisation.
The "Bucharest, rediscovered - Metamorphosis 6" project within the exhibition is put together targets mainly young people, as well as Romanian and foreign tourists who visit Bucharest, by providing them with an album with the photos. The album has accessible information about Bucharest; it's in 3 languages and it includes short, yet important knowledge from historical and touristic point of view about Bucharest, a city full of charm and stories, undiscovered places that make one love it. The texts in the album are signed by Mihaela Varga, art critic.
The "Bucharest, rediscovered - Metamorphosis 6" project is a cultural initiative of the Alumnus Club for UNESCO and the European Federation of Clubs, Centres and Associations UNESCO funded by ArCuB under the Cultural Programme Bucharest 555. Project supported by the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, Metropolis Center and DanaArt Gallery.
